If a slice is configured to clip its children, child slices will be clipped at the edges (shifted by its padding) of the slice if they go over them. That means that parts (or all) of child slices won't be drawn. When a Panel or Grid slice is set to clip, each child is clipped to its own cell/panel of the Grid/Panel, instead of the whole parent slice. Also, marking a slice as clipping is a potential speed-up, by telling the engine that if it isn't visible then its children can't be either, so they can be skipped entirely when drawing or looking for slice collisions. (Note that if the slice isn't drawn then slice autosorting might not happen.)
