Talk:HamsterSpeak Specification
Bob the Hamster: I started to re-write this document for the new script declaration syntax, and I realized it is a pretty useless document. Evrything here would be more appropriate in the Plotscripting Dictionary or the Plotscript Tutorial
The Mad Cacti: Well, maybe. It seems a little awkward to me to have the tutorial be a reference... I'd like to have the keys for the sprite editor documented on the sprite editor page as well as in the relevant HOWTO chapter for example... Still, I see what you mean. But do you want to document all strings, arrays, script definitions and any other more advanced features in the tutorial, or do we add chapters to the dictionary in addition to commands - it's a listing of commands, not a reference for the entire language? Neither feels right to me.
Bob the Hamster: Perhaps the Specification just needs to be re-written from scratch. It was editing the old text that was making me feel as if the whole thing needed to be scrapped.
The Mad Cacti: We should move all the declaration keyword explanations to the dictionary (if they're not there already), and replace them with a list of hamsterspeak keywords, linking to the dictionary. The specification could start with a brief Basics section describing the syntax stuff (which should either be duplicated/moved to the tutorial), followed by sections on the syntaxs of strings and arrays (when we have them), and we could keep the Obsolete Features section and describe other arcane things.
