TMC (talk): Hi! By reference pages I guess you probably mean the "New" HOWTO, which is sadly quite blank. You can follow the old HOWTO instead, which will teach you about most of the basics. Probably the screenshots will be the thing most noticeably out of date. Press F1 in Custom and read the help pages, those are pretty complete. I think custom menus is the main thing it's missing from the HOWTO, and it also doesn't touch scripting at all, including slices. For learning about scripting and slices, see the Plotscripting article.

Finally, ask questions! Slime Salad is the best place to ask questions, because more people will see them, but you can ask here too if you want.
