Why did you choose QuickBasic over other languages to make the OHRRPGCE?

This article only applies to the DOS/QuickBasic 16-bit version. It is not relevant for the current 32/64 bit Windows/Linux/Mac/etc versions
Back in 1997 when James first started working on the OHRRPGCE, Basic was the only language James knew how to use, and QuickBasic 4.5 was the only compiler he had installed on his 486/33
James and Brian Fisher had previously programmed several games using QuickBasic and an assembly-language library that Brian wrote called allmodex.
The decision to write the OHRRPGCE the way it was written was entirely based on the tools that James had available at the time.
The OHRRPGCE is no longer developed in QuickBasic. It has been ported to FreeBasic.
