The Collaboration Games[edit]

(Not to be confused with the Random Collab Contests or Competitive Collab Contest!)

The Collaboration Game was a contest that was twice hosted by User:TwinHamster, inspired by the multiple chapter structure of the Epic Marathon Contests. Sometimes other collaboration games or contests have been proposed, though none got as far. It consists of multiple entrants passing chunks of information to each other to simultaneously create multiple chapters for a single game.

A History of working together[edit]

The 2006 Collaboration[edit]

The TwinHamster started up the idea that a game divided into chapters and composed by different authors might be an interesting concept, so in the summer of 2006, the first Collaboration Game was created.

The project was ultimately composed of the OHR community members (In order of chapters):

This contest was designed so that contest entrants would create new .RPG files for each of the game's chapters and pass them along to the next entrant to work off of.

Each member was only able to play the previous chapter so that forgotten details could be replaced with random awesomeness.

Obviously waiting for people to complete game files took quite a bit of waiting and it took quite a few months to complete.

An overview of this contest can be found in the first issue of the OHR Online Magazine HamsterSpeak here

The 2008 Collaboration[edit]

The 2008 collaboration again attracted a lot of attention and was to run for one month starting from about June 12th. Unfortunately everyone seemed to fail to met the deadline even after an extension, and it seems that the contest faded away even after an attempt to revive it in 2009. People generally agreed that the contest gave too much emphasis on the stage of planning the story, leading to long plots for each chapter that were unrealizable.

The current entrants are (In the order of signing up):

Changes to the game[edit]

Learning from his mistake of passing entire bulky .RPGs from one person to another, the TwinHamster decided that it would be best for each of the entrants to first "write" their own chapters of the story for the game and to pass those along instead.

Through this new method, it is expected that all of the chapters are to be released at the same time. (Estimated Date: July 14th)

2006: Martin's Tale[edit]

The 2006 Collaboration Game, titled "Martin's Tale", can be found at: Slime Salad Castle Paradox

This game features the misadventures of the Son of a Sh"u"pkeeper, Martin, who initially embarks on a journey to a Magic School to learn his role in life. Each chapter warps Martin's life into further Havoc until he finally understands the kind of man he is to become. Great fun for the entire family!
