Development & Trivia

A high school in the middle of nowhere with no air conditioning. The cafeteria food is so bad it probably qualifies as toxic waste. Students are required to tuck in their shirts even if it's not physically possible. It's packed full of all kinds of morons and bastards, infested with roaches, and ruled over by the iron fist of a not-quite-sane principal.

What could be worse? That very same school with a mysterious forcefield around it, trapping students and teachers alike inside, of course!

And just when it looks like it can't get any worse, it does: the power goes out. Abnormally-large bugs start showing up everywhere. Poisonous red fungi grow up all around the school, plaguing anyone who manages to figure out a way around the forcefield and leave the building. And whoever's behind it all seems to be seeking a powerful item -- the legendary Num Coin -- that is said to be buried somewhere deep beneath the school's foundations...

Version history[edit]

Development on Fnrrf Ygm Schnish: Alleghany Hell School began all the way back in 2008. After a couple years of abandonment, development resumed in the early 2010s, with many of the game's graphics being revised (most noticeable are the walkabouts, hero battle sprites, and portraits which were completely redrawn; the power outage maptiles were also changed to be much darker than before, fixing some color brightness issues that resulted from the game's development starting out on a dying monitor that showed everything darker and bluer than it actually was.) This continued on and off for the next few years, with the "on" periods often lasting only a month or two but steadily adding more to the game as time went on.

The first demo version was finally released on November 1st, 2017. A second demo release, fixing some bugs and oversights present in the original version as well as adding in new features and some small extensions to the game's playable content, was released on April 20th, 2018. This was followed shortly after by a minor bugfixing update on May 7th, 2018.
