Who is Jeremy Jacobs?[edit]

Jeremy Jacobs is a talented MIDI composer. He was active on the internet near the end of the 20th century, and maintained a homepage featuring his musical compositions, absurdist humor, and atheist philosophical writings. In 2000, he vanished from the internet. The last evidence of his activity on the internet was his computer's last contribution to SETI@home on Dec 12 2000. This fact caused some to speculate that he was abducted by intelligent life from another world. Jeremy himself claims that he simply didn't want an internet presence anymore, but seriously, if we didn't believe that Elvis was dead, we certainly aren't going to believe a story like that.

In 2007, Jeremy returned triumphantly to the net, blogging/podcasting from zagboodle.blogspot.com, although that url and the humorous podcasts therein vanished a few months later. Jeremy has some of his newer music posted at http://myspace.com/zagboodle

Music[edit]

My philosophy of composition is this: shove a whole bunch of notes into an electronic score and listen to the result. If you like what the notes do, keep them and play around with them. If they offend you, trash the bastards. (tcmidi.com)

Jeremy Jacobs has a unique style of musical composition, characterized by small melodies tied together within a larger framework of chaos, and his song titles would make even John Lennon at his most drugged-out proud.

Here is James's complete collection of Jeremy Jacobs midi files. This is currently the only place most of these are available online. Now that he is back, Jeremy is planning on re-posting these on his own site, probably under a Creative Commons license, or something like that, but this collection will remain here as a backup, in case Jeremy is ever abducted by UFO's offline again.

Two of these songs are used in Wandering Hamster (Water Gestapo and I Not Human).

Jeremy has expressed interest in more composing, but complains of repetitive wrist injury. Plans to open a charitable fund to buy him a pair of unstoppable atomic-powered robotic wrists are still stalled in the early planning stages.
