Plot Talk:Index
Mike C.: Hmm, I just noticed that a few entries have incorrect short names, and listed with their full parameters... Oops, ungood. Anyway, the problem was in plotdict.xml... I accidentally forgot to truncate the parameter list from the short forms of those few, I guess. Not a big deal, but I don't really want to upload a new version...
That train of thought, of course, led me to wonder how I'd upload it again anyway. I never found out if you, James, actually created the bot whose guise I was going to go under whilst doing such a thing. Etc.
Anyway, I'll fix up the pages manually tommorow after work.
Bob the Hamster: I haven't created the bot yet, because the user account you mentioned-- User:Plotscripting Dictionary, wasn't it? -- doesn't exist yet. The user has to exist before I can mark it as a bot.
Mike C.: Clearly, somebody has to create it.
Ok, fine. I did it. If you care about being able to log in as it, I'll tell you the password (by email, of course). Either way, cyborg it up!
Bob the Hamster: It has been botted
Update[edit]
Plotscripting Dictionary: Bzzt, greetings humans. The plotscripting dictionary has been updated en masse. Many appologies to any who may have manually edited a page.
Mike C.: Note to all: Please do not edit the pages themselves, as they are liable to be nuked in mass updates like these. To correct documentation, please use the relavent Talk: page.
Bob the Hamster: Perhaps some day we will be able to reverse the process, and generate the XML file from the wiki, which would make maintenance a lot easier.
Mike C.: Oh good god no. That would rely on people using good grammar, proper formatting, and other things which, as evidenced by many other edits on this wiki, just isn't common enough.
Not to mention that the transition from XML->Wiki is lossy, losing things like the <note>, etc. tags (which I hope to use more widely soon).
However, I know what you mean. I do prefer editing the wiki, myself...
Moogle1: Can you please fix the "silbing" entries in the XML? :(
Bob the Hamster: looks like TMC already fixed them a couple months ago. Thanks for spotting them here.
Moogle1: The recent sync broke a lot of the pages. See my recent edits for a couple of them. I don't know how many were affected, but it seems like a lot.
Bob the Hamster: Oh, dang! How didn't I see that before? Apparently it happened to every single one of them!. There is a line break missing between the canon and the description.
manual updates = conflict[edit]
James Paige: we need a re-import of plotdict.xml, and perhaps a warning at the top of plot:index explaining that these are autogenerated. Although I still would love to figure out a way to make the wiki the master, and generate the xml from it... I know that is technically very difficult, but it would be so much better from a doc maintenance point of view....
