Chapter 1 - Introduction
So you want to make a game, huh? Well, if so, then you've come to the right place. This is the Core Tutorial series, and it will walk you through the process of making a game, starting from downloading the software you need all the way up to releasing and uploading your masterpiece for the world to see. Before we start though, we'll just make a few things clear so that we don't run into any problems down the road.
What this tutorial IS[edit]
This series of tutorials is called the Core Tutorial series, and it's targeted at beginners looking to make their first game and learn the ropes of the OHRRPGCE. Whether you've just started making games for the first time, or have experience with other game development software but are new to the OHRRPGCE, then this is the tutorial series for you.
Each chapter contains a detailed and illustrated guide to walk the reader through each step. Care is taken to make sure that everything is as unambiguous as possible, with details being provided for different operating systems and different software where applicable. There will at times be video tutorials as well to provide more in-depth illustrations of the tasks being performed.
As this tutorial walks the reader through the process of making a game, downloads will be provided containing all the resources and files created for each chapter. That way, the reader can follow along with the process while feeling free to tinker and play with things easily.
What this tutorial ISN'T[edit]
While more advanced users might get some information out of these tutorials, it should be remembered that this is targeted at beginners and the material is presented as such. It is thus not a reference guide or set of documentation of features, as only those pertinent to new users making their first game is presented. More advanced features can be located in official documentation, or better yet, on the forums where it's possible to ask for help from the gurus of the OHRRPGCE.
Still, that's not to say that advanced users shouldn't read this tutorial. They are always welcome to read, build on, and contribute to the tutorial as they see fit.
Anyways, that's enough for now, let's get on with making a game!
