Talk:How do I make a "backdrop point"?
Mike: With all due respect, WTF?
Bob: This "backdrop point" thing is basicly a big complex hack to allow someone to edit their backdrops in the maptile editor... A feature which will be trivial to implement hacklessly after my tile editor code cleanup is finished >:)
TMC: I think referring people to Yuriy's ohrgfx would generally be a better solution.
However, the stuff described here has its uses... I've needed to show tilesets as backdrops in games.
Coincidently, I modified the tileset editor for more general purpose drawing once for fun (and because I'd put all that hard work into getting to know my way around the sprite editors only to implement a couple small features - and because someone asked for it (they liked using their keyboard)). It was pretty rough, and a little buggy, but allowed users to specify the tile size and 'tile' coordinates. It still used an RPG lump, but happened to operate on MSX lumps, so you can use it to draw backdrops.
