BAM format is no longer the preferred music format. BAM is still supported, but MIDI is a better choice
This article only applies to the DOS/QuickBasic 16-bit version. It is not relevant for the current 32/64 bit Windows/Linux/Mac/etc versions
Because the OHRRPGCE used to be a DOS program, the BAM music it played requires your sound card to be set up in a DOS-compatible way. Many newer soundcards, especially ones integrated into motherboards were totally unable to play BAM music.
The Windows and Linux versions play BAM music by automatically converting it into MIDI, so if you are using a recent version, BAM music should work on any sound card. If you have problems with BAM music in the current Windows version, please read: Why doesn't the music ever play when I am playing my games?
