Talk:Free Sound Effects
Kizul: I can't seem to upload sound effects — I keep getting '".ogg" is not a recommended image file format.' and '".mp3" is not a recommended image file format.' errors. :/
Bob the Hamster: Oops! I need to update $wgFileExtensions
Kizul: I see you trimmed the descriptions for the Confirm and Cancel sound effects — I suppose I did make them just a tad long-winded. ^_^;
Categorizing?[edit]
Kizul: Eventually there's gonna be a ton of SFX here, submitted by people other than me (at least, I hope that more than just me'll submit 'em), and I was just thinking, “Why not categorize 'em?” Have like a section for Menu SFX, a section for Map SFX and a section for Battle SFX. There'd probably be submenus and stuff for each menu so that it'd be a little easier to find stuff, like Battle SFX —> Attack SFX or Map SFX —> Ambient SFX. I know that it's a little soon to be thinking about this, seeing as I'm the only one submitting SFX right at the moment, but I just thought I'd say it now rather than wait'll it's too late 'cause I didn't mention it and forgot. :)
Formatting[edit]
Mike C. Is it just me, or is the formatting on this page totally fubar? (that was me, stupid random cookie deletions)
Accessibility (or lack thereof)?[edit]
Kizul: I just realized — this page seems to only be linked to via the FAQ. Methinks this should go into the 'Downloads' section of the Wiki, but I don't really know where on that page it should be stuck. :|
Bob the Hamster: I agree. I was just waiting until after ubersetzung releases to put it there.
Kizul: Okay, cool. It'll be nice being able to access it a lot easier. :D
sfxr[edit]
Bob the Hamster: sfxr is awesome! I love it!
The Mad Cacti: Spiffy Spiffy!
Kizul: the download link's dead; I had to Google for another one — behold, a forum post with a non-dead link. :)
NeoTA: the original download link works fine for me. Are you behind a proxy or in some other situation that might cause strict servers to spit you out?
The Mad Cacti: The link was down yesterday. I had to get it from another source too.
Public Domain SFX?[edit]
Fenrir-Lunaris: I thought I should put this here, since I can't seem to think of anywhere else appropriate. We need the "Wilhelm Scream" in the archive of free Public Domain SFX. Badly. Any objections?
The Mad Cacti: Hahah. Nobody can object to that.
